Self Defence workshops and training for individuals, corporate business, small groups.

could you defend yourself? learn how to.

Interested in self-defence training? Based in Beckenham, Kent, I am also a fully qualified Self-Defence instructor for men, women, and children. I have been studying Krav Maga since November 2017, training twice a week with the incredibly talented Patrice Bonnafoux of www.urbanfitandfearless.com. We have become good friends and we now run Self Defence classes together, for Adults and Children. We were chosen to train the staff of a well known pub chain in Self Defence and they loved it, you could see their confidence growing every week. Our self-defence classes are suitable for clients of all ages and do not require a high level of fitness. I teach self-defence on a one-to-one basis in my private studio or the comfort of your home, and we also hold group classes throughout the week. Contact me today to get started.

What Is Self Defence?

Self-defence skills are a bit like car insurance, you hope you may never need to use them but it’s good to know you have them. Legally, a person may use such force as is reasonable in the following circumstances:
  • Self Defence
  • Defence of Another
  • Defence of Property
  • Prevention of Crime
  • Lawful Arrest
This provision means that you can use force to protect yourself, your friends and loved ones, prevent someone from carrying out a crime or theft, or detain someone until the police or proper authorities arrive.

About Krav Maga

Probably the most effective self-defence system in the world, Krav Maga dates back to 1933, when it was developed by a Hungarian-Israeli by the name of Imi Lichtenfeld as a ultra effective, quick to teach method of self defence and is designed to be practical, quick to learn, regardless of age, gender or fitness ability. He taught it to the Jewish people living in the Jewish quarter of Bratislava, Czechoslovakia in order to protect themselves from the fascist bullys who were being influenced by Hitler's Nazi Party. After the Second World War, Lichtenfeld was repatriated to Israel and was asked to teach his ultra-effective fighting technique to the newly formed IDF, Israeli Defence Force. Nowadays it is been adapted and improved and taught to all major intelligence services all over the world. If you are a fan of the newer James Bond or Jason Bourne films, you may recognise some Krav Maga techniques. There are no fancy high kicks or roundhouse stuff – these techniques are designed to be effective against the aggressive and brutal nature of a physical attack in the street, not a sporting context or a martial arts competition.

Self-Defence for Women

Proven to increase safety and prevent assaults, self-defence skills are especially valuable for women. A recent landmark Canadian research study has shown that teaching women self-defence tactics reduces the risk of sexual assault, and statistics show that the more you fight back, the fewer injuries you will receive.
